Land Below The Wind V

The day after the climb, we, especially me, walked like an old lady, knees were extremely in pain, climbing up and down from stairs was like a tough task. We still need to continue to final day's journey. First destination is to some river which I don't even know the name for fish massage, this massage is not like the one is langkawi or Krabi Island, by small tiny fish. The fish is hugh and black in color, like mouses, yeak! But since we were already there, just tried them. Kind of pain too when the fish massaged us, they even bite us! With my high pitch voice, I could shout very loud hahaha. 

We were so enjoying the fish massage. 

Okay, long story short, move to Sabah Tea Farm next where we tried various kind of Teh. Being a tea lover, the tea over there is just good for me, still missed the one in nearby coffee shop, with high concentrated tea. :P 

Still Cameron Highland is nicer with cooler weather. But no thanks, m not goin there again in near future. :P 

The last pit stop, TADA~~~ present to you the Poring Hot Spring.... sign board. 

On the same day, we took flight back to KL. Thats the end of our journey to the East. :) 

Last but not least,

I would say, mount KK is not easy to climb, but with strong determination, yes! you can do it! just rmb, if hui nee can also make it, you too! hahaha.

Land Below The Wind IV

Climbing at around 3am was not easy, the oxygen level was so low and I really faced some difficulty in breathing. For a moment I thought I was going to faint while climbing. But relax,  again, if other people can make it, me too! Until we reached at around kilometer 7, we got to face a big challenge to hold on rope and climb up the cliff. It was tough. Good thing that it was dark that time where I could hardly feel the height. So, lets forget about the height and keep on climbing. While resting at the side, we did looked up to the dark sky, there was a lot of stars blinking. The journey was like never ending where we could not see the end, so suffering and we were so exhausted. Luckily Jackz with his mountain guides were there to guide us. Step by step, be it zig zag or straight line, slowly I could see the famous South Peak at kilometer 8, which mean we still have 0.7km to go. Please do not think that the remaining 0.7km is so damn easy. But we strong determination, me Siew Pei and Yet reaced the Low's Peak at about 6.15am, missed the sun rise moment but it's okay, as long as we reached the peak. 

Yes! We all made it to the peak!!!! :)))))

In one day, we needed to climb all the way from peak to Timpohon gate, I thought going down will be easier than climbing up, and I was wrong, at least for me. We needed double of climbing up's time to reach the gate and the process was suffering as well. 0.5km is not as near as running a school field for a round or more. We used 1 hour to cover 1km, so for total 6km, we needed 6 hours. But regardless of the time spent, we reach at last, yea, AT LAST! Mount KK, once is enough for me. And I m definately proud of myself despite the pain knees while climbing down, where I walked like an old lady. 


When I back to office, I randomly said a phrase as below, and my colleague meow jiejie wrote it in her facebook's status: 

Yaya, this is from me!!!! :)

I will remember this quote forever, with strong determination, only we can go far and achieve what we desire for, and I never know that I have strong will too! :D

Land Below The Wind III

So, this was the day that we were so looking forward. After having breakfast, we were ready for the hike. Let's took a group picture before departing!

My name tag: M for Mesilau trail, but we took Timpohon; A for Group A; 17 is  the date, 001 is member no. ; E is for month of May

Many friends and even colleagues told me, they took Mesilau trail, 2km longer than Timpohon but with beautiful scenary. However, Jackz recommended us to take Timpohon which is 6km. His main concern was, reach Laban Rata rest house earlier for good rest before continuing the journey to the peak next morning. So, in this case, process is not that important, most important is, we manage to reach the peak, because we spent so much for this trip and our main intention is to the peak, sight seeing throughout the trail is just adding point for the trip. :) 

So along the journey, me and Siew Pei hiked together. We did stop half way for picture shooting. Timpohon trail has nice view too esp in kilometer 5, exactly like what we learnt in Geography last time haha.

Along the road there is sign board stating that we were in kilometer 0.5, 1... to 6km, these were the motivation that keep us moving up. Another motivation was, those climbers who gonna climb down keep encouraging us. Thanks for their support though we dono each other. :) 


At about 1.30pm, yeah, we reached Laban Rata rest house. I was like, AT LAST! 

We bathed then rested for awhile after applying counter pain cream. Our legs were not that pain yet, just sore. "Dinner" was served at around 4pm, haha, our biological started to go upside down, having dinner at 4pm?!!!

After fooling around and snapping pictures, we went to bed. Yea, went to bed even before 8pm. Haiyo, really having difficulty to fall asleep, for a person who used to sleep at 12am during normal days. So during supper time (2am), we all where blur blur. Putting on head light, wind breaker, hand gloves, we were going to continue the unfinished journey!

Continue from last post, after arriving KKIA, we met our tour guide - Jackz Lee. He roughly explained to us our activities for Day 1. Oh ya, forgot to mention bout how KK looks like, all I can remember is the sea is very blue in color, shall come back one day for island hopping, or maybe scuba diving if I can afford in the futute. :) 

First destination was, filling our tummies with breakfast in Gaya Street, the infamous Fu Yuan Coffee Shop, with lots of choice. Jackz told us, the coffee and tea there is very nice, we tried, yeah, not bad. After that, we went to buy the left out stuffs from mount climbing, the windbreaker is so cheap over there, I should have bought it there. 

Okay, gonna start our trip as a tourist! First stop, to "Rumah Terbalik" on the way to Kundasang, yes, the house is exactly upside down. The weather is so hot on that day which gonna melt us.

Okay, done with Rumah Terbalik, we continued the journey. Ha, this time is makan time again, for the first time in my life, I tried wild boar meat. Not that bad after all, in fact I am in love with it! :P

Next stop was Pekan Nabalu if not mistaken, where we could see the peak of mount KK. 

Too cloudy on that day, we could not see the peak clearly.

To experience New Zealand without flying there, you can opt for Kundasang Calf Farm. It has breathtaking scenary with Mount KK as background.  You can enjoy drinking the milk while watching the milk collecting process, though abit smelly la.

Now I remember I missed out something, before departing to Calf Farm, we stopped by KK HQ Park for name tag checking and to shoe shop for Adidas Kampung shoes, which is highly recommended by Jackz for mount climbing.

So basically, that was the first day of the trip. After dinner, Jackz gave us short briefing on mount climbing for the next morning. Kinda excited cos we are going to pay HER a visit! But at the same time, quite worried too, can I make it to the peak? 

Land Below The Wind I

It was a year ago when we decided to travel Kota Kinabalu (KK). Still remember vividly how I woke myself up at the middle of the night just to grab for cheap air ticket. Yes, when I really desire for a thing, I can really have strong determination. Actually, KK was not our 1st choice, can't really remember what are other countries in the list. But somehow I manage to buy four tickets (for me, chao beh, Jo, and Siew Pei) with only RM 98 from KL-KK in May 2012. Melissa, Yet, Bee Siew and Uncle Teo joined us after that. Yea, what a weird combination but who cares right as long as we did enjoy ourselves very much throughout the trip. 


Knowing my own stamina, I dare not look down at Mount KK, eventhough many friends who went before telling me, you can climb up even without any training! Sounds so easy rite. But I started to jog on treadmill in fitness center, at least once a week, haha, sometimes I tend to be lazy too. :P  



So, time flies, and the days that we were so looking forward were here! I flew from PG-KL at 15th May with Uncle Teo. That was the first time meeting him, before that I communicated with him via phone only, like match making session, i told him, i was holding a rose on my hand hahahaha, no la, i told him i was sitting on my luggage near McD in PIA. :P  Sometimes, to strangers, I can be very cool and refuse to talk to them (in another word, lansi lor), but nope to him, maybe he is too friendly and talked non stop with me though he was tired that time (Uncle couldn't stay up till late night). Upon arriving LCCT, I was so excited to meet my long lost friends - chao beh and siew pei (just that long time didn't meet them up). 

They just woke up from sweet dreams while I spent my whole  night browsing AA website for cheap tickets.

After checking in our baggage and meeting the remaining of the gang, we departed from LCCT to KKIA. Borneo, here we come! For the first time in my life, I'm goin to step on East Malaysia. The journey took around 2.5 hours and of course I better spent my time sleeping on the plane because I was not able to take even a short nap in airport. Must save abit energy for KK tour once we arrived.
